Presentation transcript:

Friday 10/5/18 Notebook Entry: To the right is a picture of a jackal and a bird. Make a claim of what you think is going on between these two animals in the picture? What is your evidence? Reasoning? A jackal scares away a scavenging bird during a harsh Bulgarian winter. According to Your Shot photographer Sergey Zlatkov, the jackal had been feasting on a dead animal nearby, and didn't want to share.

Build a Boat C.E.R. Evidence: What information would be appropriate evidence in the build a boat investigation? Find data that supports your claim. Use your boat records. Describe the data (observations and measurements).

Build a Boat C.E.R. Reasoning: What kind of information would be relevant for the reasoning? Find the scientific knowledge that ties your claim and evidence together. Ex: The reason a boat with ______________ held more hex nuts is because ______________. Use your Science of Boat Design Notes. You should include explanations density and buoyant force in your reasoning.

Prepare for Monday’s Build a Boat Assessment Claim Evidence and Reasoning Practice What will be asked to do on the assessment? I can identify the elements of a scientific explanation (claim, evidence and reasoning) I can reflect on the process of building a boat I can apply the science concepts to the design of the boat.   Carefully read the directions. Read each investigation summary carefully. Turn in when you are finished.
