MISS SHORE YR 5 TEACHER/UPPER PHASE LEADER Global citizenship MISS SHORE YR 5 TEACHER/UPPER PHASE LEADER

What is global citizenship? A global citizen is someone who is aware of and understands the wider world - and their place it. They take an active role in their community, and work with others to make our planet more equal, fair and sustainable. At Chesterton, global citizenship is all about encouraging young people to develop the knowledge, skills and values they need to engage with the world. And it's about the belief that we can all make a difference.

What are we already doing? UNICEF Gold Rights Respecting School Award – Of the 20,925 primary schools in England only 473 have been accredited with this distinction. Silver Eco School Silver STARS Schools (Sustainable Travel, Active, Responsible, Safe) Edible Playground Forest School Topic learning Community and global projects

What are we focusing on this year?

What are the sdg’s? Adopted by all United Nations Member States (193), it provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in- hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

How are we doing it? The children chose!
