National 4 Unit Assessment and Added Value

National 4 Unit Assessment Drama Skills In this Unit, learners will explore and develop drama skills and ways of communicating thoughts and ideas to an audience. They will learn how to respond to stimuli. They will also learn how to develop portrayal of character and will develop knowledge of form, structure, genre and style when creating and presenting drama. Learners will develop knowledge of social and cultural influences on drama. They will also learn how to reflect on their own progress and that of other learners.

Drama Skills - Outcomes and Assessment Standards 1 Explore drama skills by: 1.1 Responding to stimuli to develop ideas for drama 1.2 Developing drama skills to communicate ideas 1.3 Using drama skills to communicate ideas 1.4 Reflecting on their own work and that of others Outcome 2 2 Contribute to the drama process by: 2.1 Planning and devising drama 2.2 Using acting skills in order to portray character 2.3 Exploring form, structure, genre and style 2.4 Reflecting on their own work and that of others

Drama: Production Skills In this Unit, learners will explore and develop production skills. They will use these skills to enhance drama when presenting. Learners will use problem-solving skills in order to generate ideas for presenting drama.

Drama: Production Skills –Outcomes and Assessment Standards 1 Use production skills in drama by: 1.1 Responding to stimuli and generating ideas for a production 1.2 Exploring production skills to communicate ideas 1.3 Reflecting on the use of production skills Outcome 2 2 Develop production skills in drama by: 2.1 Developing production skills within a production 2.2 Applying production skills within a production 2.3 Reflecting on their contribution to the drama

National 4 Added Value Added Value Unit - Drama: Performance This Unit adds value by introducing application and challenge. Learners will draw on and extend their knowledge and apply their production skills in a drama performance. The Unit will focus on the process and product of learning. The performance will be sufficiently open and flexible to allow for personalisation and choice. To achieve the National 4 Drama Course, learners must pass all of the required Units, including the Added Value Unit. The required Units are shown in the Course Specification. National 4 Courses are not graded.
