MEANING OF RESEARCH REPORT A complete and detailed account of Research experience is called research report.

GENERAL FORMAT OF RESEARCH REPORT Preliminary Section Title page Title of the study Name of the institution to which the report is submitted. name of the candidate Date of submission of report.

Preface It includes a brief statement of the purpose and scope of the report. It should also include thanks for those who gave the researcher substantial guidance or assistance in the conduct of the study.

Table of Contents It includes the major divisions of the report. Page numbers for each of these divisions and sub divisions are given. List of tables, List of figures are also entered in the table of contents.

List of Tables & List of Figures In this we gives generally the number of tables and number of figures in the form of graphs, pictures etc.

Main Body Chapter I Introduction It should be complete and concise. It should introduce the research problem in a proper context.

In the introduction we includes the following sub headings: Statement of the problem Significance of the problem

Hypotheses Objectives of the study Limitation and delimitation of the study Definition of important terms

Review of related literature Chapter II Review of related literature In this chapter the researcher studies the various works done by earlier researcher related to his problem. Generally it gives support to his study. The review of related literature helps the researcher in formulation of hypotheses. It links the new research with the old.

Chapter III Procedure Procedure adopted for data collection Sources of data Data gathering instruments or tools used Sampling and methods of collecting data

Analysis and interpretation of data Chapter IV Analysis and interpretation of data The data is presented in tables and figures companied by textual discussion. The tables and figures should be constructed and listed in such a way that they clarify significant relationships and become self explanatory.

The bibliography is a record of those sources and materials that have been used for the study. An appendix follows the bibliography.

All the relevant supporting unwieldy materials, that are important but not Essential to the understanding of the report, are presented in the appendix.
