PROFILE OF A VIRGINIA GRADUATE

Road or written driver’s test?

Performance-based Assessment to Measure the Hard-to-Measure Talk about regional grants & proof of concept – SOL tests, legislation calling for local alternative assessments. Audiences believe that performance based assessments are new and quirky. Great experience with PBAs. Most career tech courses have PBAs. Put it in that context – work is not about introducing a new concept and more teachers to something that’s been in place for many segments. Employers – performance evaluation – idea: we’ve been doing this for years and in all different places. Students engage in authentic experiences or simulations that assess if they have met expectations for what they need to know and do.
