Community Relations Objectives What are the typical community relations objectives for an organization?

Community Relations Objectives Write a community relations policy: Tell the community about the operations of the firm -- tax payments, size of payroll, employee benefits, growth, support of community projects, # of employees Correct misunderstandings, respond to criticism

Community Relations Objectives Gain favorable opinion of the community -- during strikes, periods of labor unrest -- state company positions Inform employees (families) about company activities and developments Inform people in local government about contributions to the community welfare and obtain support for legislation that will help the company

Community Relations Objectives Find out what people in the community think about the organization Develop relationships between management and community leaders Support health programs -- donations, etc. Contribute to culture of host community Aid in education for youth and adults (speakers, financial, etc.)

Community Relations Objectives Encourage sports and recreation -- provide places, funding, or events Encourage employees to run for local office, board membership (Leadership York) Buy supplies locally -- assist local economy

Community Relations Objectives Operate a profitable business that supplies jobs -- competitive wages Work with other business to supply an economically sound community
