Summary This book is about a boy named Marty who finds a dog in the woods near a stream and names him Shiloh. He takes Shiloh back to the owner and finds out that the owner mistreats him by kicking him and starving him. So Shiloh runs away again. When Marty finds him , he hides him in the woods in a pen he built himself so the owner can’t find Shiloh and mistreat him again. The owner finds out Marty has him again and the owner demands him back . Marty refuses, so they make a deal for Marty to keep Shiloh.

Setting This story takes place in West Virginia during the summer at Marty’s house.

Main Characters There are two main characters. Marty is an eleven year old boy who really wants a dog. He finds one in the woods and hides it . Shiloh, a beagle, who runs away from his owner because he is mistreated.

Opinion My opinion of this story is that I loved it because it was exciting in some parts and sad in others. I also like it because it really caught my attention and I couldn’t stop reading it.
