Objective: Learn to use a table to find equivalent ratios and rates. Using Tables to find equivalent Ratios and rates and create proportions Objective: Learn to use a table to find equivalent ratios and rates.

TO create a table of equivalent ratios or rates… Use the same method you used to create equivalent ratios. Multiply or divide the numerator and denominator of a known ratio or rate by the same number. Now we create a table… We used the table to find 5 equivalent ratios. The equivalent ratios are: 3= 6 = 9 = 12 = 15 4 8 12 16 20 3 6 9 12 15 4

Your example: Complete the table to create five ratios equivalent to 4 9. Write the 5 equivalent ratios. 4 8 12 16 20 24 9

Creating Proportions A proportion is a statement that shows two ratios are equal, or proportional. Proportions can be written in word or numbers. For example: 1 = 3 or “One is to two as three is to six.” 2 6 Complete the table, use the ratios to create three proportions with 2 5 2 5

Homework: Use multiplication to complete the table to find five equivalent ratios. 2. Complete the table to find 5 equivalent ratios. In 3-5, make a table and create 3 equal ratios. Use the ratios to write 3 proportions. 9 20 4. 3 11 5. 7 21 5 10 15 20 25 30 8 7 14 21 28 35 42 9
