Animal Utilization Protocol (AUP) Approval Process Allow 1 to 1-1/2 months Submit AUP electronically to AREB Coordinator for initial review New AUP submissions assigned for Veterinary Consult, and recommendations sent electronically to Principal Investigator for incorporation into AUP AUP renewals sent directly to AREB Stage 1 Pre-AREB Principal Investigator to submit revised AUP electronically to AREB Coordinator incorporating veterinary recommendations (written justification required if veterinary recommendations not incorporated) Allow 3 weeks AUP prepared by AREB Coordinator for AREB Meeting Stage 2 AREB AREB recommendations sent electronically to Principal Investigator 30-day deadline Principal Investigator to email revised AUP to AREB Coordinator incorporating AREB recommendations for final approval (written justification required if AREB recommendations not incorporated) Stage 3 Post-AREB Copy of approved AUP sent to Principal Investigator AREB Coordinator Health Research Services (HRS) Tel: (905) 525-9140, Ext. 22469 Room: HSC-3H9 • Email: princed1@mcmaster.ca
