10th World Studies 12.7.17 Turn in: Outlining Take out: Nothing Take out: Notecards Device Today’s objective: I can perform meaningful research! Today’s Agenda: Outlining HW: 1st Thesis due tomorrow by EOC 4 Source/25 Notecards

OUTLINING I would argue this might be the most important step in the writing process—while also being one of the most overlooked… Template online I like to use physical note cards in organizing it first…easier to “edit” by moving a card than typing…

Can you categorize your evidence into topics? OUTLINING Can you categorize your evidence into topics? Does it apply to your research question in some way? Can you then create a way in which that topic begins to answer your research question? What common thread can you find between your topics? How do these begin to answer your research question?

Analysis THEN, start adding in 2 sentence analysis… WHAT does your evidence MEAN? HOW does your evidence PROVE your thesis? But I don’t even have a thesis yet!!! HOW is your evidence SIGNIFICANT? HOW does your evidence ANSWER your research question?

Analysis When you’re done with your outline… Read it in REVERSE order… Yes, read it BACKWARDS…Steen will… Does your analysis make sense in relation to your evidence? (it should…) Does your evidence make sense in relation to your BTS? (it better…) Do all your BTS make sense in relation to your main thesis? (they MUST!!!)
