Wrt 205: critical research Dr. Rusty Bartels Monday, February 18th, 2019 Week 6, Day 1

Overview Freewrite Small Groups Wrap-up

Freewrite How do you listen for difference? How can an awareness of difference contribute to ethical research practices? What ways might you think about difference in your research process?

Small Groups The authors frame their work around a feminist ethos of representation informed by three principles: lingering on relationships with participations; listening; co-creating knowledge. Groups of 2-4 Example 1 - Lauren: Mutual Contemplation (p81 - 85) Example 2 - Emma: Archival Silence (p85 - 88) How are these three principles present in the author’s case study? How did these three principles allow for their flexibility and adaptability upon encountering challenges in their research practice? What were some of the ethical considerations in the authors’ research? How did these three principles inform how they navigated it?

Wrap-up Today we: Focused on ethical research practices as guided by a framework steeped in a feminist ethos Next time: Peer Review Project Proposal 2 rounds - 2 copies or digital access Finish signing up for conferences Conferences begin Friday
