Condover Hall Our flagship activity centre set in the Shropshire countryside offers the ideal combination of outdoor and indoor adventurous activities. Condover Hall is a grade I Elizabethan Mansion set in 78 acres of fantastic countryside and gardens. Your students will experience history, beautiful surroundings and state of the art activities during their stay.

The Value of JCA Learning to work together as a team Our courses encompass a range of outdoor activities to encourage personal development, inspire and motivate learning, independence and build confidence, all in a safe environment. We believe that learning outside the classroom is essential to a well-rounded education. Our courses focus on engaging students , providing enjoyable learning, and helping to develop life skills, such as: Learning to work together as a team Achieving personal and team goals Increasing self esteem and confidence Conquering fears Trying new and exciting activities Experiencing living away from home Respecting and valuing each others abilities Revealing undiscovered strengths Solving problems and taking responsibility

Why Choose JCA? We have been perfecting our centres and activities for 20 years. Unique to JCA, one dedicated and multi-skilled instructor spends the week with each group; building confidence, trust and support. We only employ and train the best - dedicated, motivated, fun and caring staff. Full board accommodation, insurance and all equipment is included. We are fully bonded members of ABTA, guaranteeing protection. Our team is dedicated to improving the development and learning of children.

Activities

Activities The children will be divided into four groups during the day. These will be loosely based on the friendship circles that the children will be completing. All activities are led by the centre’s fully trained staff. A member of our staff will accompany each group at all times. Alternative plans will be made in the case of adverse weather.

Health and Safety Each JCA instructor is first aid trained and carries a first aid kit at all times. Daily safety and equipment checks are made and recorded by JCA instructors. Full risk assessments for all activities have been carried out by JCA. Any accidents or near misses are recorded regularly by JCA instructors and corrective action is taken to ensure that they are avoided in the future.

Health and Safety All JCA staff wear a uniform and name badges with a photograph. All staff members are DBS checked. Condover Hall has CCTV and security barriers at the entrance. Senior staff are on site from 7am to 11pm. Night security patrols run from 11pm to 7am. Condover Hall has been informed of all medical conditions and dietary requirements. Please inform our office of any changes as soon as possible.

A Typical Day Breakfast: 08:00 (but can be as early as 07:00) Session 1: 9:00 to 10:30 Break: 10:30 to 10:45 Session 2: 10:45 to 12:15 Lunch : 12:15 to 14:00 Session 3: 14:00 to 15:30 Break: 15:30 to 15:45 Session 4: 15:45 to 17:15 Dinner: 17:15 to 19:15 Session 5: 19:15 to 20:45 Sleep 21:30 – hopefully!

Accommodation All children will be in single-sex dormitories with at least 2 other children. We may be sharing a block with another primary school, but usually we are in our own block. Our staff will sleep in the same building as the children, if there are two floors we are split across the two floors. All rooms have their ensuite toilets and showers. All accommodation blocks have key pad security that only the adults in our group know. The children will be informed of their dormitories once we arrive at Condover Hall. There is no public access to the site or the accommodation.

Accommodation There are options of multi bedded dorms (4 – 12 beds) for students, offering en-suite facilities. Teacher rooms are a mixture of twins and singles, with en-suite facilities within the same building as the children. Senior Staff Members are on duty until 10:30pm each day with Night Staff patrolling between the hours of 10:30pm and 07:30am. Centre doors are secured in the evening, but can be opened in case of emergency and security barriers guard the entrance to the site.

The children will need a packed lunch to eat in school before we leave – please put it in a disposable bag. No fizzy drinks or glass bottles. Our coach will depart at 12pm. You are welcome to come back to wave us off if you can. If required, bring a travel pill to take at school before leaving. Final Preparations Over the first few weeks after half-term we will: Tell the children which member of staff is their group leader and who else is in their group. Ask the children to buddy-up with a friend from their group for toilet runs. Stipulate expected behaviour/consequences. Discuss relevant health and safety issues. Have a final meeting with children to go over key information. Children will not know who they are sharing a room with until we arrive at Condover.
