THE BASIC IDEA WEB Main Argument Sarah’s ribbon is not a hat Does not cover her head Does not protect her head Supporting Argument Supporting Argument The bubble in the middle contains your main argument. Bubbles stemming off of that contain your supporting arguments.

Next, you start adding evidence to back up your supporting arguments: Sarah’s ribbon is not a hat Does not cover her head Does not protect her head Not fitted to her head Would not keep head dry Does not cover her whole head Too flimsy Add more evidence . . . And more evidence . . . Until you have enough evidence to back up each supporting argument!
