The aim of this project is to form a knowledge base to develop sustainable university student-oriented nightlife policies in medium-size university cities, by unravelling the sources of inequalities and conflicts that arise from the recent expansion of university student-oriented nightlife.

(O1) analyses the current governance of nightlife, policies & regulations (O2) achieves a better and more holistic comprehension of students' consumption patterns of nightlife - which establishments and places they visit, when, where, why, for how long and with whom (O3) identifies and examines the expansion of university student -oriented nightlife with regard to its negative impacts on local residents and how residents deal with the nuisances produced by nightlife (dissimulation, acceptance and commitment).

Use this knowledge to elaborate and propose coherent and sustainable policy recommendations that will aim to foster sustainable urban nights, ensuring community liveability and the peaceful coexistence of different social groups.

Research Methods (M1) a comparative analysis of the different national legislation and planning regulation   (M2) semi-guided interviews with public and private stakeholders involved in the regulation, production and control of the night-time economy involved (among others: planning officers, conservation officers, environmental health or environmental protection officers, licensing officials, police, building control or fire officers, local residents, consumers and business associations, real estate agents, students associations). (M3) an online questionnaire will be distributed to university students (M4) a multi-sited ethnography (M5) Semi-structured individual interviews with nightlife consumers (M6) workshop in the form of focus groups (size from 6 to 12) (M7) semi-guided interviews with local-residents
