1st Topic: MCS - Criterion of the number of MCS - November 2016 1st Topic: MCS - Criterion of the number of MCS - We have to consider some issues when we decide the number of MCS for spatial streams HW complexity Flexibility of indicating MCS for spatial stream Signaling overhead in EDMG-Header-A Based on above, we can consider 2 methods for the number of MCS Method 1: Independent MCS field for each spatial stream Method 2: Define a Base MCS field and 8 differential MCS fields Jinmin Kim (LG Electronics)

1st Topic: MCS - Proposed MCS field(1/2) - November 2016 1st Topic: MCS - Proposed MCS field(1/2) - Considering flexibility & signaling overhead & real channel environments, method 1 is reasonable for 4 or less spatial streams and method 2 is preferred for above 4 spatial streams So, we propose MCS field in different way by NSS. For example, If NSS <= 4, the MCS field would be defined as: {MCS1, MCS2, MCS3, MCS4}, i.e. 5 * 4 = 20 bits If NSS > 4, the MCS field would be defined as: {Base MCS, diffMcs1, diffMcs2, diffMcs3, diffMcs4, diffMcs5, diffMcs6, diffMcs7, diffMcs8}, i.e. 5 + 8 * 2 = 21 bits In method 2, the step size in differential MCS field have to be defined considering HW complexity & MIMO channel environment 11n already defined UEP(unequal error protection) for spatial streams. MCS: the different modulation order compared to base MCS (2bits) ‘00’ indicates the same MCS with the base MCS ‘01’ indicates the one-step higher order modulation than the base MCS with the same code rate ‘10’ indicates the two-step higher order modulation than the base MCS with the same code rate ‘11’ indicates the three-step higher order modulation than the base MCS with the same code rate For example, if Base MCS is QPSK ½ code rate, ‘00’ is QPSK ½ code rate. ‘01’ is 16QAM ½ code rate ‘10’ is 64QAM ½ code rate.‘11’ is 256QAM ½ code rate Jinmin Kim (LG Electronics) John Doe, Some Company

2nd Topic: Channel Aggregation - The number of MCS - November 2016 2nd Topic: Channel Aggregation - The number of MCS - There are 2 options in channel aggregation 1st option: total number of MCS is N regardless of channel aggregation In channel aggregation, N/2 MCSs are used for spatial stream per aggregated channel 2nd option: total number of MCS is 2xN when channel aggregation is used In channel aggregation, N MCSs can be used for spatial stream in each aggregated channel We prefer option 1 for low signaling overhead in EDMG-Header-A. MU-MIMO / FDMA indication November 2016 MU-MIMO / FDMA indication We propose to add 1 bit to EDMG-Header-A for MU PPDU to indicate whether current PPDU is for MU-MIMO or FDMA Jinmin Kim (LG Electronics)

EDMG Header-A contents for FDMA November 2016 EDMG Header-A contents for FDMA The contents for FDMA can be simply designed in a similar way to MU-MIMO The maximum number of STAs to be allocated in FDMA is four since the maximum number of channels in CB/CA is four We define 4 channel descriptors like SS descriptor in MU-MIMO We limit the maximum NSS per STA to 2 streams (1bits) Maximum number of spatial streams per AP would be 8 (with four users) Beamformed field(1 bit) is independently defined per STA in EDMG Header-A Because each EDMG Header-B and data for STAs can be pre-coded differently in frequency domain Channel Descriptor 0 Channel Descriptor 1 Channel Descriptor 2 Channel Descriptor 3 AID NSS BF 8bits 1bits 1bit LG
