Irregular Plural Nouns Ms. Taylor 2nd Grade 770-578-7200 jessica.taylor2@cobbk12.org Ms. Taylor’s Sailors Week of August 27, 2018 A Peek at Our Week WEEKLY HOMEWORK Reading: Ask and Answer Questions We will learn how to ask and answer questions such as who, what, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text. Writing Choose a writing prompt from the August writing calendar Math: Problem Solving We will learn how to use addition and subtraction to solve one-step word problems within 20. Writing: Personal Narratives We will learn how to write a narrative that recounts a well elaborated short sequence of events, includes details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, uses transition words, and provides a sense of closure. Math Practice Addition and Subtraction Math Facts to 10 Go to Greg Tang Math on our class links page and then click on resources – word problems to generate and practice word problems. Spelling Complete S.O.S. for the weekly words – where, why, how Choose a spelling activity from the August Speller’s Choice Science: Matter We will describe different objects according to their physical properties and explain how structures can be disassembled then rearranged to make new and different structures. We will also explain how some changes in matter caused by heating and cooling can be reversed while others are irreversible. Reading Read for 20 minutes Practice asking and answering questions before, during, and after reading S.S./ Science Go to our class webpage, click on links, click on states of matter, watch the short video and sort the objects (solids, liquids, gas) Class Blog: http://www.cobblearning.net/taylor2/ Spelling & Word Study Spelling/ Reading Rule Language Skill Mark Your Calendar Floss Rule When /f/, /l/, /s/ (or /z/) is heard after a short vowel at the end of a one-syllable word, it is spelled with a double ff, ll, ss, or zz. Ex: puff, hill, less, jazz Irregular Plural Nouns We will learn how to form and use frequently occurring irregular plural nouns when speaking or writing.
