BIVARIATE DATA 16.4 Frequency Tables Per Capita Income % of people with a college degree

explain the difference between a frequency table and a relative frequency table. Get into your Groups Pages XX of your INB FREQUENCY TABLES & Categorical Data

Let them think about this one. Its important that we know. Do you love math? YOUR OPINION MATTERS Do you hate math? Maybe youre somewhere in between? Pick one.

Either have students take turns putting a tally mark on the board, or just ask each student their opinion and mark it using interwrite. Then go back and change the tally marks to numbers. Take a picture of it with your snipping tool. You will use it later on slide 9. FREQUENCY TABLES

Point out difference between categorical vs. numerical data. Notice I didnt ask you for a NUMBER! CATEGORICAL vs. NUMERICAL I just asked you to pick a CATEGORY! Whats your pain level? Whats your test grade? Whats your IQ? How many questions did you get right? Love? Hate? or Whateves?

Paste in a copy of the class frequency table. Or just copy in the data to this table. Then use interwrite to fill- out the relative frequency table. Students follow along in their foldable. FREQUENCY vs. RELATIVE FREQUENCY

Now make a bar graph of each. Note the differences. BAR GRAPHS Love/Hate Frequencies Girls Boys Girl/Boy Percentages Loves Hates
