Early Life James Armistead had a bad early life He was born on December 10th 1748 in New Kent Virginia He was born into slavery and he had to work for a slave owner at age 3 He got separated from his mother at age 2

Occupation/background info James was a spy for the American’s in the American revolution He was an enslaved African American He was not a loyalist, he was a patriot

Quotes “it is certain, in any case, that ignorance, allied with power, is the most ferocious enemy justice can have”  This means that if you ignore your enemy and if you think that you are the most powerful, than you can be the most cruel enemy that you can possibly be. 

Interesting information. He died on august 9 1830 age 68 His full name is James Armistead Lafayette, he got this name because at the end of the war he was still working as a slave, and the general Lafayette (somebody he worked with in the war) got him out of slavery. He was used on both the America side and the British side. He was a double spy.
