Traditional Classroom VS. STEM

Agenda: What is STEM? Why is STEM important? What does STEM look like in the classroom? How can we utilize Google Apps to help integrate STEM into the classroom?

Objectives: Participants will……. define STEM and describe how it will prepare our students with a 21st Century skill set. compare a traditional classroom to a STEM classroom. work collaboratively with peers to create solutions. examine Google Apps and how they help teachers integrate STEM into their lessons.

Science: Evidence-based inquiry. Method for obtaining, reliable, verifiable, knowledge about the universe around us. What happens, how it happens, SOMETIMES why it happens. Helps to explain and make discoveries about nature.

Technology: is the application of of science AND engineering to achieve a useful enhancement of human ability and/or achieve a commercial or industrial object. result of engineering is Technology

Engineering: the creative PROCESS of designing and making something practical from science and math.

Mathematics: the study of measurement, properties, and relationships of quantities and sets, using numbers and symbols.
