collography Collagraph- The word is derived from the Greek word koll or kolla, meaning glue, and graph, meaning the activity of drawing

collography Collagraph- Collagraphy (sometimes spelled collography) was introduced in 1955 by Glen Alps and is a printmaking process in which materials are applied to a rigid substrate (such as paperboard or wood

What is the process of Collagraph printing? Collagraph Printing. Collagraphy is a really versatile printing process in which a textured plate is inked up and put through a press.... The collagraph plate is then varnished and can be printed intaglio or relief. This is our method of creating and printing collagraph plates intaglio.

Who invented Collagraph printing? Although the inventor of the process is not known, Glen Alps made collagraphy his primary art form and coined the word "collagraph" in He disseminated the techniques he developed for making collagraphs during his long career as both an artist and a teacher.

Collagraph printing Process ? A collograph refers to a collage of materials glued on to a "printing plate," which is a square of cardboard. When glue is dry, it is shellaced or varnished so that it can be painted with acrylics. Paper is then pressed on to the surface to produce a print.

Collagraph Making Process ?

Jagmohan ChopraJagmohan Chopra Indian Artist Collagraph Artist Shri Jagmohan Chopra (1935– 2013) was an Indian printmaker, painter and photographer who... There he formed Group 8 – an association of working artists devoted to print making in order to promote print making.

Jagmohan ChopraJagmohan Chopra Indian Artist Collagraph Artist He experimented with the process of intaglio on a cardboard plate by creating surfaces of different levels and textures. This process helped print-makers to experiment creatively.

Jagmohan ChopraJagmohan Chopra Indian Artist Collagraph Artist Being the youngest entrant to Group 8, Anupam Sud had the rich experience of learning from Jagmohan Chopra. “He was always very experimental and he never let anything come

Jagmohan ChopraJagmohan Chopra Indian Artist Collagraph Artist collography for example were a result of the shortage of art material caused by the string of border wars that India entered into in the 1960's. With no zinc plates to work with, he sought inexpensive substitutes resorting to cardboard as a matrix

Assignment: Using the Collagraph process, compose a creative landscape or cityscape. This piece can be abstract or realistic, culturally inspired or fantasy. Whatever you choose, make sure that you have sketches and research in your sketchbook.

Use various found materials to help you develop your plate- these materials will be glued onto your illustration board and than varnished to seal them before inking Materials: thin pieces of cardboard or oak tag, raffia, string, yarn, pencil shavings, rice, leaves, small dried flowers, reeds, burlap, sand, fine meshed fabrics, netting, tin foil, embossed wallpaper or other textured materials.

Anything will work as long as it is not more than 1/8" high. If you have objects that are higher you will have trouble printing properly.

Arthur Merric Bloomfield Boyd All printing must be done on the blue press. The black press is used for more precision printing.

Ray Davenport Make a series of at least 3 prints. You can make more if you wish. You can also change the look of each in the way that you ink it.

1 of your prints should be a blind print or embossing. This is done before you begin using ink, run the un-inked plate through the press with a damp piece of paper.
