Week Commencing 15th October 2018 Thought for the week Week Commencing 15th October 2018 “Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.” Proverbs 19:20 Pope Francis tells us: The one who listens attentively to the Word of God and truly prays, always asks the Lord: what is your will for me?

Liturgical Theme for the week Week Commencing 15th October 2018 “The word of God” The aim of this weeks them is to encourage our students to think about just how we hear the voice of God in our world today and how the word of God helps us to live our lives. So how do we know how god wants us to live? How do we hear God speaking to us today? Do you know which book beats all records for the number of copies sold and the number of languages it has been translated into? The answer to these questions is the Bible. It is the most widely read book in the world appearing in over 1500 languages. For millions of people in our world who read the bible and try to live their lives by it, the bible is the word of God speaking to them for the time in which they live.

Monday 15th October 2018 Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Father, the hand of your loving kindness powerfully but gently guides all the moments of our day. Give us the gift of that same loving kindness, that we may treat everyone with love and respect, today and everyday. Amen

Monday 15th October 2018 Paired Speaking Question What do you think are the most important words of God that tell us just how he wants to live our lives? Class Speaking Challenge: In the Gospel’s Jesus tells us that God wants us to do two important things to love him in the best possible way. What do you thin these two things are? Class Discussion: God askes us to love our neighbour as much as we love ourselves. God’s word sound so simple. But why do we find it so hard to love our neighbour? Exit Pass: Tell me the last time you did something positive to help somebody else?

Tuesday 16th October 2018 In our word today it can seem that God’s voice can so easily be drowned out by the noise of war and hatred and people wanting to get as much as they can for themselves. So just where can we find God in our world today? Dear Lord, help me to be still for just a moment so that I can hear you speaking to me. Amen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWqP4N0xkwA

“Oh my God”, be with me today. Wednesday 17th October 2018 “Oh my God” how many times do we hear that phrase used in “Towie”? How many times in a day do you perhaps say it yourself? It’s a great way to start talking to God and to bring him into our lives and college community each day. So let’s use these words as a prayer today, asking God to be with us in all the situations that we find ourselves in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkJ5dZad5cI “Oh my God”, be with me today. Amen

Thursday 18th October 2018 Hearing God’s word can lead us to live our life to the fullest. Take time today to watch this inspirational video. Jesus, you came into the world so that I could live life to the fullest. Increase my faith in you. Amen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beeaXdv_mGg

Friday 19th October 2018 Today we want you to think about all the people in your life who have taught you about God. Your Mum and Dad or a Grandparent or somebody that you look up to . Take a moment today to thank God for them and to think about what makes them special. God our Father, thank you for the people in my life who have taught me about you, help me to follow their good example. Amen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QZMgK9axt4
