Bellringer Dec. 7 In your notes – just add this to the reading guide on the blank back – What seems to be Jackson’s attitude toward Miss Strangeworth in the paragraph? What phrases did you use to infer this tone? Miss Strangeworth never concerned herself with facts; her letters all dealt with the more negotiable stuff of suspicion. Mr. Lewis would never have imagined for a minute that his grandson might be lifting petty cash from the store register if he had not had one of Miss Strangeworth's letters.

“The Possibility of Evil” You have twenty minutes to finish reading and answering your notes. Guess you’d better stay focused and not sit there chit-chatting. At the end of that time, we will have a brief discussion about the theme, Jackson’s use of characterization, and her word choice (ie- tone, figurative language, imagery, diction, syntax) . You will then take the quiz. You may use your notes on the quiz.
