Meaning of Grit Intro to leadership CS 206

Put in your Leadership notebook: Learning Target I can explain the difference between a fixed and a growth mindset AND define “grit”.

Answer in your Leadership Notebook. What is something that you have had to work hard at to learn or become skilled at? What are three things that you had to do to learn or become skilled at that thing? What is something that you have failed at but then learned from that failure and improved? What is something that you are passionate about and why? Do you think that people are born with a certain amount of intelligence and or skill or do you think that intelligence and skill is something that can be developed through hard work and perseverance or grit? Answer in your Leadership Notebook.

Answer IN YOUR NOTEBOOK: What is the main point of the video and why is that message important? How do you view failure? Is your current personal view of failure is a positive or a negative one? explain?

Answer IN YOUR NOTEBOOK: What is the definition of Grit? If someone needed immediate gratification (for example, they needed to see the results of their work right away or be told immediately that they did a good job), are they more or less likely to be successful? Why? How does the idea of Grit connect with Growth Mindset?

Final Thoughts Answer IN YOUR NOTEBOOK: Adam Grant, in his book Originals, wrote this advice: ‘When our commitment is wavering, the best way to stay on track is to consider the progress we’ve already made. As we recognize what we’ve invested and attained, it seems like a waste to give up, and our confidence and commitment surge. What could you start doing today to have more Grit in your life? Where in your life have you shown Grit already? Talk about someone you know who has a lot of Grit.
