Project # 12 – Smart Walker REU student: Christopher Feltner Graduate mentors: Sharare Zethabian and Siavash Khodadadeh Faculty mentor(s): Dr. Turgut and Dr. Bölöni Week 5 (June 10 – June 16, 2018) Accomplishments: Demoed and presented to middle and high school students from CampConnect about our project, and answered questions Considered approaches to deal with floor space being represented by non-linear distance values Worked on mid-term report Problems & Solutions: We are trying to figure out different ways of recognizing floor space in depth images vs obstacles. We have identified issues which decrease the effectiveness of previous methods. Plans for next week: Finish mid-term report Implement a solution to issue NSF REU Research Experience on Internet of Things 2018
