Global Challenges and Intensified Action Substantial progress in TB control 1994-2004 WHA 2005 targets: one at reach (cure rate 82% vs 85%) one uncertain (detection rate 37% vs 70%) More needed to reverse the epidemic keeping the pledge of commitment by endemic countries keeping the pledge for support by donors and all partners expand DOTS and promote an universal standard of care by all What action? Short-term, immediate: ISAC (Intensified Support & Action in Countries) Long-term, towards 2015 MDGs: Ad-hoc Committee recommendations
