Solving Linear Equations

The Coin Toss Heads (H) Tails (T) the Variables win the toss! The Variables are playing the Constants and the game is about to begin. When the coin is tossed, it can come up Heads (H) Tails (T) Either way, they’re both letters the Variables win the toss!

Let’s Take the Field! The Variables have won the toss. They elect to take the side of the field where they are strongest. The Variables want the right side of the field. Variables to the right, Constants to the left.

Let’s Take the Field! Variables to the right. Remember to swap signs when you hop the =

Let’s Take the Field! Constants to the left. Remember to swap signs when you hop the =

Let’s see what we really have. Combine like terms. Divide last to isolate the variable!

Solving equations is a snap! The Variables always win the coin toss since (H) and (T) are both letters! The Variables elect the side of the field where they are strongest. The Constants have to go to the other side. Combine like terms Divide by the coefficient of the variable. Solving equations is a snap!
