Electricity

Vocabulary battery – a devise that uses chemicals to make electricity electricity – the movement of electrons circuit – the path electricity follows.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks3bitesize/science/physics/electricity_8.shtml

Vocabulary complete circuit – a connected pathway, (the light works) or a closed circuit. incomplete circuit – a circuit with a gap, (the light does not work) or an open circuit. switch – a device that opens or closes a circuit

Vocabulary series circuit – all items line up in a row parallel circuit – each item has it’s own circuit

insulator – materials that don’t let electricity through Vocabulary insulator – materials that don’t let electricity through conductor – materials that do let electricity through http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/scienceclips/ages/8_9/circuits_conductors.shtml

Vocabulary power source – a device that supplies electricity like a battery or a generator load – an item that uses electricity like a light or a fan http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize/science/activities/changing_circuits.shtml

Vocabulary turbine - a tool with blades (like a fan) turned by steam generator – a tool that changes movement to electricity condenser – a tool that changes steam to water

Vocabulary attract – objects that pull together repel – objects that push apart static electricity – electrons moving between objects
