APIX forum Katsuyasu Toyama (JPNAP) on behalf of all the volunteers of this activity

What is APIX forum? “Asia-Pacific Internet Exchange” forum A forum of Internet Exchange Providers in Asia-Pacific region To share information about technical, operational, and business issues and solutions regarding Internet Exchange

Background Internet Exchanges have become very important infrastructure for the Internet. Many Internet Exchanges in Asia-Pacific region. But no forum of Internet Exchange Providers in Asia-Pacific, to share information regarding IX technology, operation, business, and so on. comparing to “Euro-ix” in Europe

Pre-meeting Volunteers from IXPs gathered on Aug. 25, 2009. China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Nepal, Singapore Advisors from APNIC Discussed whether this activity is necessary. We agreed to step forward.

Scope (topics to be discussed in APIX forum) exchange point architecture technologies for internet exchanges operational issues requests to vendors traffic trend, analysis, projection, and so on tools standardization peering issues education Research and Development

Next step Planning the first meeting in Kuala Lumpur on March 2010 along with APRICOT “small-start” from now to March 2010 discuss on APIX mailing list charter, scope, membership, … prepare the first meeting
