I am going to A Day of Irish Dance at the Landmark Center I am going to A Day of Irish Dance at the Landmark Center! The Landmark Center is a big building in downtown St. Paul. The event starts at 11:00 am, but I can arrive starting at 10:00 am. I should come early if I want to avoid crowds at the entrance.
We will enter the Landmark Center and find the table where volunteers are selling tickets. We will buy or pick up our tickets. We will then get a wristband to wear. This wristband tells the event staff that we have paid for our tickets and are supposed to be there!
When we get into the event, there will be a lot of people there having fun. There will be a stage in the middle of the main floor. The stage will have people playing music and dancing throughout the day. This music and the sound of the dancing might be loud!
There will be a lot of vendors around the event There will be a lot of vendors around the event. They will have things to sell, including food and drink. It might become crowded with all the people there, so there might be a lot of noise from people talking. There might be some strong smells with all the people and the food there!
If I need a break, I can go to the Quiet Room If I need a break, I can go to the Quiet Room. The Quiet Room is a space where I can get away from the crowds, noises, and smells. There will be some sensory tools and coloring pages for me to use.
To get to the Quiet Room, I will need to go up the stairs or up the elevator to the third floor. The Quiet Room will be in Room #326 (also called the Seminar Room). A volunteer will be there to help me if I have any questions!
The Quiet Room will close at 12:00 pm The Quiet Room will close at 12:00 pm. At 12:00, I can take a céilí dance class in this room with Beth Pitchford! This class is designed for individuals of all abilities. When the céilí dance class is over, I can listen to Robert Waltz play music.
Afterwards, there will be an instrument petting zoo Afterwards, there will be an instrument petting zoo! I can experiment and play with musical instruments. I need to be careful handling the instruments, as they might be old or fragile. Music teachers Mattie Ernst and Iain Dove Lempke will help me play the instruments.
Starting at 2:00, there will be two plays performed in Room 326 (Seminar Room). I can stay and watch, or I can watch Irish music and dancing at one of the other stages. I can also participate in other activities, like arts and crafts or getting my face painted!
A Day of Irish Dance will end at 5:00 pm. I had so much fun!
