4.4 Images in a Plane Mirror. Images in Plane Mirrors When you place an object in front of a mirror the light rays reflect off the object and some will.
The incident ray and the reflected ray behave in predictable ways, which leads to the two laws of reflection: 1.The angle of incidence equals the angle.
Light Reflection and Mirrors. What Are the Kinds of Reflection? You can represent light waves as straight lines called rays. Remember that light obeys.

Presentation transcript:

10.2 How we see the image

10.2 How we see the image Regular reflection Mirrors have a very smooth surface. This means parallel rays are reflected as parallel rays. This is why mirrors give a clear image. We call this regular reflection.

10.2 How we see the image Diffuse reflection Most surfaces are uneven. This means parallel rays are reflected in different directions. They do not form a clear image. We call this diffuse reflection.

How do we know that light travels in straight lines? 10.2 How we see the image How do we know that light travels in straight lines? How do the images in plane mirrors also show that light travels in straight lines? Imagine what we would see if light did not travel in straight lines!
