Unité 4: La Négation VOCABULAIRE: des expressions négatives
Presentation transcript:

La négation ne…pasnot ne…toujours passtill not ne…pas encorenot yet ne…pas du toutnot at all ne…plusno longer not any longer/anymore ne…jamaisnever ne…queonly, nothing but

Both elements of the negative surround the verb (the helping verb) in the past tense: Je ne parle pas anglais. Je nai jamais fait du jogging.

Both elements go in front of an infinitive to make it negative: Ne pas apporter de boisson dans lavion. – Dont bring drinks on the plane.

With ne…que, ne precedes the verb & que precedes the item that is limited: Elle ne voyage que dans des pays anglophones. – She travels only to English-speaking countries. Elle ne voyage dans des pays anglophones que quand elle accompagne ses enfants. – She travels in English-speaking countries only when she is accompanying her children.
