CMTC HOHENFELS GATE ONE Leaving through Gate One requires you to look carefully to the left. There is a sharp curve just before the gate that can hide a speeding car from your view!. Left View from Gate One

LOOKING TO THE RIGHT AT GATE ONE You have a good view of the roadway towards Parsberg, but be careful of speeding cars.

There is an underground walkway that services the Grossbissendorf housing area. Pedestrians can now cross safely without having to interfere with vehicle traffic.

THE FIRST MAJOR CURVE LEAVING HOHENFELS. Slow down or it may become the last CURVE you will ever see! Just outside of Gate One going towards Hohenfels, the road on one side is a rock face cliff and the other is a drop off. Fog, wet , or icy road conditions make this curve very dangerous at even the posted speed limits. You must slow down and anticipate poor traction on this road!

HOHENFELS Drive slowly and anticipate close encounters of the worst kind.

Narrow streets and blind curves make it difficult to see on coming traffic, bicycles, and pedestrians. Often large truck and farm vehicles are encountered that are taking up over half the road.

DANGEROUS CURVE AS YOU LEAVE HOHENFELS TOO FAST TOO CURVY TOO LATE! Just outside of Hohenfels and before you get to the lumber mill, there is no room for error. One mistake at high speeds and there is no chance to correct.

Convoy Turn-Off Point coming from Rohrbach Do to the many curves along this route the short stretches of straight roadway appear to be much longer then they actually are! Once you get here then the curve starts to show. It looks gentle, but it is a danger “S” Curve that can’t handle high speeds!

Before you know it your at the intersection and into the curve!

CONVOY TURN-OFF POINT COMING FROM ROHRBACH Once into the curve you can often find bicyclist, pedestrians, or slow moving farm equipment on the road. Miss this turn and you are “Airborne”.

This is the most DANGEROUS curve on this highway This is the most DANGEROUS curve on this highway. It has claimed many lives in the past! This curve is just before the Iron Works heading from Rohrbach towards Hohenfels. Lose control here and you could end up in the water!

Miss this curve to one side and you in Deep Water!

On the other side it can turn your world Upside-down!

MOST DANGEROUS CURVE Even if you are doing the speed limit, you could be run off the road by on coming traffic that loses control because of speeding! Be careful and anticipate the other driver losing control. WARNING!! NO CAR MANUFACTURE RECOMMENDS WASHING YOUR CAR BY THIS METHOD!!

CURVY ROAD JUST BEFORE GATE #5 Going from Gate One towards Parsberg and just before Gate Five there is a section of roadway with a step slope and many curves. This section becomes very slippery due to moisture as there is little sunlight on it due to the trees.

Gate #5 This gate has been redesigned a few years back. It is the main gate for tactical traffic. Tactical vehicle don’t always yield the right of way

HORMANNSDORF INTERSECTION This intersection has recently claimed the lives of a soldier and his wife. Speeding through this intersection is asking for an accident! For many years the traffic approaching this intersection from the right and left only had to yield. There are now stop signs in place, but many driver don’t stop or even slow down. You can have the right of way and end up DEAD RIGHT! HORMANNSDORF INTERSECTION

AUTOBAHN INTERSECTION As with any autobahn intersection, you must be watchful of traffic merging off of and on to the Autobahn. What makes this exchange dangerous is that it is used by slow moving Military vehicles in convoys. Additionally, track vehicles that are railed loaded into or out of Parsberg must travel through this exchange. Expect to see traffic congestion here during training rotations.
