Presentation transcript:

Natura 2000 dataflow Current issues Reporting Expert Group meeting of 16 March 2015

Background Use of the Natura 2000 data in the Natura 2000 Viewer, as an EU- wide database, for creation of statistics, etc. Transition to the new format for the Natura 2000 Standard Data form to be completed and updated by end 2015 (Note to Habitats Committee of 14 April 2011) Quality control reports are available on Reportnet but: still many errors and inconsistencies in the national datasets submitted; still many data missing, incomplete or outdated !  added value of the Natura 2000 dataset not fully exploitable at present

Most important data gaps/errors: Comparison between tabular and spatial Natura 2000 datasets: Missing shapefiles /or shapefiles without Standard dataform Significant area discrepancies between shapefile and SDF 2) Missing/incomplete Standard dataform information: Ecological information for qualifying species/habitat types (habitat cover, population information, site assessment) SAC designation date  Please keep the 2015 deadline in mind for completing, correcting and updating all Natura 2000 information & make use of the existing QAQC tools !
