Objectives Design and build a roller coaster that can achieve a specified time. Limitations included size and budget.

What we did… To start the ride the ball will travel through three zigzags. Next the ball travels in a funnel. Then the ball rides along the track through some vortexes/helixes and finish along the board.

Calculation Time! Energy Conversions Velocity of Ball in Funnel Gravitational Potential to Kinetic Energy of Ball Velocity of Ball in Funnel Coefficient of friction of pipe insulation, PVC pipe, and funnel. Coefficient of restitution of nails.

Wrap it Up! Our original design of the coaster changed dramatically. Encountered problems with finding materials at reasonable prices and working condition. Finished coaster was a much better design then our original. Gravity is your friend!
