Version Compatibility: PS – Simulation Unit Process Simulate installation includes a version of the Simulation Unit software (under …empower\SimbaPRO, see image to the left). This version is used during PS simulation to communicate with the SU box. If a newer version is to be used, it needs to be installed on the PC and then the finished installation folder needs to be fully copied into the Empower folder instead of the current version. Process Simulate 13.0.2 includes SU 8.1.0.5

Version Compatibility: Upgrading SU version If you want to use a newer version of SU when using PS, follow these steps: Install a newer version of Simulation Unit on any computer. Find the Simulation Unit installation folder and copy all it’s content. Go to: …empower\SimbaPRO and delete the folder’s content. Paste the copied folder’s content into the SimbaPro Folder. Make sure it is named SimbaPRO. During Simulation PS will now use the newer version.

Using TIA Portal

Exporting HW configuration When Simulation Unit software is installed it also installs a converter for hardware configuration in TIA portal. As long as this components is installed, any Compilation of the project will export the hardware configuration to a hardcoded folder: C:\TIAExports The configuration is exported in a .oms file. Using SU software we will convert this file to an XML and import it (next slides). * For Step7 a different workflow must be followed in order to export HW from Step 7 and later on import it to Simulation Unit (separate slides are available for the Step 7 workflow).
