The Flower

The male reproductive part of the plant. stamen The male reproductive part of the plant.

filament A stalk in the male reproductive system of a plant that holds the anther.

anther The part of a flower at the top of the stamen that contains its pollen.

pistil The female reproductive part of the plant.

ovary The part of a plant located at the bottom of the pistil that produces seeds and ripens into a fruit.

stigma The sticky tip of the pistil in a flower plant.

Style is the stalk that the pollen falls down to get to the ovary.

pollination Pollen is carried from the stamen of a plant to the pistil of another plant.

fertilization The beginning stage of reproduction in angiosperms. The pollen travels down the style into the ovary and joins the egg.

germination The first stage of plant development. The seed develops into a plant.
