Our message to our students You are all capable of improving your learning Effective learning happens when you think hard, work hard and learn from your mistakes We are focusing our teaching on activities that will help you to think hard, work hard and learn from your mistakes

We have 2 expectations of every one of you We expect all of you to take responsibility for learning and remembering everything you have been taught. We call this COMPLETE LEARNING We expect all of you to aim to beat your PERSONAL BESTS

How you should be feeling... POSITIVE and PURPOSEFUL about your work MOTIVATED to do your best CONFIDENT that you can improve CLEAR about how you are doing

What you should be doing... Building effective LEARNING HABITS Taking ACTION to beat your Personal Best FOLLOWING the advice of your teachers READING for at least 30 minutes a day Don’t worry about the work that you’re not doing... JUST DO IT and do it NOW

Knowledge is power The basic learning of information is important, and it’s YOUR job Have you LEARNED the information? Is this PERMANENT?

What is there to help you? Knowledge Organisers Quizzing Practice in lessons Practice in homework Practice using firefly, Mymaths, Kerboodle, Doddle Two exams a year S Scores Exam Thursdays

Messages from your teachers Don’t leave things, and keep learning as you go Attendance matters Proof read carefully Don’t allow yourself to and in half finished work or work that you’re not proud of Have a schedule, be organised Put the work in outside the lesson Go to bed on time with a good book and read each night Read, read, watch the news and read Have the correct equipment for every lesson – remember your sharp pencil for Geography lessons The more you practice, the better you will be Remember, you should be working harder than we are Take responsibility for your learning – no “my mum didn’t”

Messages from your teachers The opportunities you have at this school have the potential to change your future – embrace them Be thankful for you education… not every child in the world is so fortunate Remember, you are working towards your future The only best that matters is your own. Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing Do you best first time, because no one likes doing a task twice We will offer you everything you need to succeed, all you have to do is engage with it We are proud of you when you try and get it wrong. Mistakes are great – they help you improve Keep a positive attitude – smile and enjoy Research your aspiration Take pride in your work and believe in yourselves Develop a ‘have a go’ attitude Keep listening, keep learning hard Give everything, every day and in every lesson do your best Don’t give up
