Tianjin Motorcycle Technical Center TMTC’s proposal for GTR2 Part-B3 6 (EPPR-25-10 GTR2 Part-B1-B2-B3 consolidated text 20180918) Tianjin Motorcycle Technical Center

GTR2 Part-B3 6 ‘EPPR-25-10 GTR2 Part-B1-B2-B3 consolidated text 20180918’ GTR2,Part-B3: 6.Fail criteria test type II for vehicles equipped with a PI combustion engine 6.1 At the choice of CP, the following alternative criteria shall be used to determine whether the vehicle has failed the type II test: 6.1.1 CO normal idle emissions > 0.5% 6.1.2 gaseous emissions exceed the specific levels given by the vehicle manufacturer; 6.1.2.1 if the information from the vehicle manufacturer is not made available and for vehicles without closed-loop fuel delivery control; CO emissions > 3.5%; 6.1.2.2 if the information from the vehicle manufacturer is not available and for vehicles equipped with a closed-loop fuel delivery control system; COnormal idle emissions > 0.5%; or COhigh idle emissions > 0.3% …… Current

GTR2 Part-B3 6 TMTC’s proposals GTR2,part B3, is replaced by the following: 6.Fail criteria test type II for vehicles equipped with a PI combustion engine 6.1 At the choice of CP, the following alternative criteria shall be used to determine whether the vehicle has failed the type II test: 6.1.1 CO normal idle emissions > 0.5% or HC normal idle emissions > 150ppm; 6.1.2 gaseous emissions exceed the specific levels given by the vehicle manufacturer; 6.1.2.1 if the information from the vehicle manufacturer is not made available and for vehicles without closed-loop fuel delivery control; CO emissions > 3.5% or HC emissions > 800ppm; 6.1.2.2 if the information from the vehicle manufacturer is not available and for vehicles equipped with a closed-loop fuel delivery control system; COnormal idle emissions > 0.5% or HCnormal idle emissions > 150ppm; or COhigh idle emissions > 0.3% or HChigh idleemissions > 150ppm. ……

GTR2 Part-B3 6 Justification: 1. China’s national standards have set emission limits for CO and HC since 1993. 2. For the Test Type II, HC limit was set to 800 ppm corresponding the CO limit 3.8 % in China’s national standards in 2003. 3. Base on many test results, in the drafting emission standard of China Ⅴ, the limits of CO and HC will be set : ‘high idle’: CO 0.3 %, HC 150 ppm; ‘normal idle’: CO 0.5 %, HC 150 ppm. China standard: The limit of high idle and normal idle EU stage EU1 EU2 EU3 EU4 EU5 CHINA DATE high idle normal idle CO(%) HC(ppm) GB14621-1993 1994-03-01 / 4.5 1500 GB14621-2002 2003-01-01 3.8 800 GB14621-2011 2011-10-01 2.0 250 GB14622-2016 2018-07-01 0.8 150 GB14622-202X 202X-XX-XX 0.3 0.5 ≈ 4
