Digitized image analysis using CEREB B-Mode Assist
Use of CEREB B-Mode Assist System The standard settings of the ultrasound machine has to be used. Similar image brightness has to be set for all evaluated images. The same gain and time gain compensation (TGC) has to be used for evaluation of changes in SN echogenicity in a particular patients during a study. TCS images has to be save in DICOM or bitmap (jpg, bmp, tiff, png, etc.) formats
Loading the TCS image (DICOM or bitmap format)
Open the TCS image
Use a manual positioning
Mark a 5 cm distance on the TCS scale
Place the square ROI (5 x 5 cm) in the midbrain area
Select the structure specified ROI
Place the selected ROI to the SN area
Start the SN area analysis
Save the counted values
Result: echogenicity index=SUM/100
Result: echogenicity index=SUM/100 90th percentile of a healthy population (red line) pathological normal Evaluated patient (black line) Echogenicity index = 18.17
The machine specific 90th percentile line (90th percentile of the healthy population SN echogenicity) could be uploaded in each center.
