AIM Health Plus Programme Reaching the Most Vulnerable Global Health Exchange Conference, 7th November 2018 Nicola Dunne

AIM Health Plus Programme Irish Aid funded maternal and child health programme implemented in Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Tanzania (2017-2021) Utilises World Vision International’s 7-11 strategy: evidence based, cost effective, preventive practices that address primary causes of maternal and child death and illness One core approach is Timed and Targeted Counselling, which is implemented in partnership with local Ministries of Health and Community Health Workers CHWs at a meeting in Busia District, Uganda

Reaching the Most Vulnerable Priority of World Vision Introduced a tool called the Eligible Women and Girls Register Updated quarterly Helping CHWs to identify vulnerable households e.g. teenage pregnancy, low birth weight baby, who are then prioritised for visits Marieme and her 1-month old baby boy, Amadou from Mauritania

Benefits from using the Tool CHWs are getting to know their communities better Identifying pregnancies earlier Increasing coverage Prioritising the most vulnerable Challenges using the Tool Increased workload for CHWs, which needs to be monitored and reflected on to avoid attrition

Thank you for your time. Any Questions?
