Mrs. Monacelli`s Class Week of November 14th Book We Read: What we did this week: Theme: We learned all About Turkey. We labeled the turkeys parts: Wings, Beak, Leg and feathers. We also learned what a Boy and girl turkey is called. Math Centers: Feather counting, Number 8 in workbook, Tracing and putting numbers 1-9 in order, Feather patterns. Letter of the week: Letter U Literacy Centers: We learned reviewed the centers and learned our last center, Uppercase, Lowercase match-then we took two days and rotated through each center. The kids did great and worked hard! Writers Workshop-Learned how to draw shapes and then how to turn those shapes into things like trees, houses, the sun, trains, people, etc. We also learned how to color things we draw using real colors. Practice these things at home when coloring and drawing pictures. Readings Workshop-Read the 5 little Turkeys Poem, Acted it out with our headbands that we made and then we colored a booklet with the poem. Ask your kids to recite it to you. We celebrated Grandparents Day with all of the wonderful Grandparents-thanks for all the families who helped with their time and donations to make this event a success. It was a great day! Reminders/ Important Class Info Reminder that next week is Thanksgiving week and we have a short week-Monday and Tuesday!
