Campfire News Around the Campfire Week of March 4-8 Camp First Grade Spanish Phrase of the Week is: Cooperación   (Cooperation) Inquiry into Math: We will practice representing the Commutative and Associative properties. We will use the associative property when being asked to solve addition equations with 3-addends. We will see if we can make a ten and then add on or recognize a double fact and then add on! Inquiry into Literacy: This week we will be starting a two-week long unit on Inventors. We will explore the lives of: Bell, Franklin and Edison this week! We will be identifying lots of key details about these important figures. Letterland Unit 21: Children learn about long a in ai and ay.  Children also learn the Letterland story that explains why ay is used at the end of words instead of ai (Example: wait, say, and afraid).Writer’s Workshop: We will be creating informational step books about each inventor we study. Inquiry into Science: We will continue to explore the importance of a push or pull to change the motion of an object, as well as friction. Inquiry into Social Studies: We will use geographic tools to identify characteristics of various landforms and bodies of water.and give examples showing location of places (home, classroom, school and community).
