Presentation transcript:

SDIC objectives Preparatory phase for INSPIRE (2005-2006) calling for stakeholder’s involvement Call for expression of interest launched in March 2005 for Spatial Data Interest Communities (SDICs): call for expertise to establish INSPIRE Implementation rules Publication of composition of INSPIRE drafting teams in November (available on http://inspire.jrc.it/ir)

INSPIRE drafting teams Network services Data Specifications Geographic Metadata Data Sharing Monitoring and Reporting of INSPIRE implementation ->Proposal of draft implementing rules on these topics

SDIC roles Provide input material to drafting teams Participate in validation phase (after proposal of draft implementing rules)

The situation so far Decision made that the GIS expert group would play the role of “WISE-SDIC” for water issues Interest shown by AT, IE, NL and SDIGER to have an active part in this activity No concrete development to date owing to insufficient time resources and other priority files

The needs Contribution to drafting process of the INSPIRE implementation rules (actually done with GIS expert group): need for harmonisation/transfer of information to INSPIRE drafting teams (establish liaison with drafting teams) Clarification of role of Eurostat, EEA, JRC, DG ENV and GIS expert group How to deal with “external stakeholders”; Integration of external stakeholders Initiative on data theme specifications (SDIGER activities) Prototyping based on draft implementing rules Inventory of existing water information systems Need to agree on a modus operandi for the WISE-SDIC, based on constitution of a ad-hoc expert group within the GIS expert group
