What is turnitin? Turn-it-in A computerized tool in ensuring that papers/reports written by student is free from plagiarism. http://www.turnitin.com

Why should we use turnitin VAST DATABASE 20+ billion pages of web content 220 million student papers and 90000+ publications PREVENT PLAGIARISM ENGAGE STUDENTS A high Similarity Percentage will engage the students to take extra effort in trying to improve the report.

SIMILARITY PERCENTAGE for FYP is not more than 30% Turnitin report will display the percentage of similarities based on: Green : 1 -24% of Similarity Yellow : 25 – 49% of Similarity Orange : 50 - 74% of Similarity Red : 75 – 100% of Similarity SIMILARITY PERCENTAGE for FYP is not more than 30%

HOW TO START USING TURNITIN?

They will put in your name and your email EXAMPLE: Your coordinators will enroll you in a class and create an assignment under that class They will put in your name and your email EXAMPLE: Name of class: FYP1 S1_1617 Name of assignment: Report

You will receive a notification email from Turnitin

Click here Name of FYP Coordinator

Assignment Click submit to hand in your report

Click confirm button

For first time submission, you will see the SIMILARITY PERCENTAGE in 10-15 minutes. For resubmission, the SIMILARITY PERCENTAGE will be generated after 24 hours from your resubmission.

FYP COORDINATOR’S PERSPECTIVE

Important Notes If somehow you forgot the Turnitin password, just click the ‘forgot your password’ link, fill in your name and email address & an activation email will be sent to you. (Your last name is your MATRIC NO). The coordinators DO NOT KEEP your password! The turnitin account will be deactivated on 13th December 2016 (11.59pm) to allow sufficient time for the turnitin report to be generated.
