Routines and Procedures Mrs. Pilo Room 306 Routines and Procedures Grading Policy Grades will be a based on a combination of various assignments, tests, quizzes, notebook pages completed in their Writer’s Notebook, homework grade, preparedness, and class participation. Grading is a point system, therefore each assignment is intrinsically weighted. For example, while a test would be out of 100 points, a quiz may only be out of 20 or 30 points. Progress Reports will be available on the Parent Portal halfway through each quarter. First Quarter Progress reports will be published October 14th. First Quarter Report Cards will be available on November 18th. Homework Policy For ELA, Homeowork is to READ always! Other Homeowork may be projects or assignments which will often be started in class. (i.e. The Reading Timeline, Review questions, Notebook pages etc..) If homework is incomplete or not brought to class, points will be deducted from quarterly homework grade. This counts as a quiz grade at the end of each quarter. Communication If you have a question or concern, please contact me via email (pilos@wantaghschools.org) or voicemail by dialing 679-6490 ext. 575. Please keep in mind that email comes in constantly throughout the day and will ensure a more rapid response. Please sign up for Remind 101 based on your child’s ELA period with me. Extra Help Extra help is available after school on either Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school from 3:02 – 3:32. I have asked that students let me know in advance that they would like to attend and what they would like to work on. Parent/Teacher Conferences You will be meeting with your child’s Period 2 teacher for a conference in November. The conference dates are November 9th, November 10th, and November 14th. You will be signing up for a conference tonight before you leave. Thank you in advance for a fabulous school year! Sharon Pilo =)
