Organisational checklist and 5C’s OCA Seminar 19-20 March Hanneke Smits CNV Internationaal

Baseline CNV At the start of the TUCP programme 2013-2016 we developed three tools, partly based on models introduced by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to collect information for the baseline: The “Organisational Checklist” A “questionnaire” based on the organisation assessment model, called “5 Core Capabilities” (5C’s) And the questionnaire on the positioning in the civil society, strongly based on the “Civil Society Index” (CSI)

Organizational checklist (OC) Linked to monitoring protocol of CNV Filled in every year by PO’s Also functions as a database for the PO’s

4. Agreements Information on 3 types of agreements: CBA’s at company level CBA’s at sector level Other agreements Number of CBA’s/agreements Items covered by the agreements Number of workers (men/women) covered by the agreements

Key components OC General information Collaboration and position in the country Representation Agreements Services Administrative organisation Financial situation Governance Human resources Communication and marketing

5. Services Training Legal services Other types of services (e.g. facilitate access to credit, social security for informal workers)

5 Core Capabilities (5C’s) The partner organisation is capable to… 1. … commit and act. 2. … deliver on development objectives 3. … relate and attract 4. … adapt and self-renew 5. … balance diversity and achieve coherence

5 Core Capabilities (5C’s) For each Core Capability CNV-I identified 5 key performance indicators (closely linked to the Organisational Analysis instrument of CNV-I)

Methodology Every 2 years by CNV and PO Participative scoring and debate with PO’s The scoring of the 5C’s is done with whole and half numbers, i.e. 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, etc. Comments, including motivation of assessment

Score Phase 0-1 Non-Awareness 1-2 Awareness 2-3 Exploration 3-4 Transition 4 Full Implementation
