First edition ESTP Advanced course on quality reporting held in Luxembourg, 24-25 November 2016 Trainers: Giorgia Simeoni (Istat) and Remi Prual (Statistics Estonia) with the support of Bogdan Zdrentu (Eurostat-Unit B5) Organisers: Eurostat Units D4 and B5 30 participants (efforts done to accept all the applicants!)
Course objectives enhancing participants' theoretical and practical knowledge about quality reporting both in general terms and with a particular focus to ESS standards for quality reporting. promoting harmonisation of quality reporting both cross- domain and cross countries improving quality of European Statistics: quality reporting is the basis for quality assessment and then for quality improvement
Course contents Each aspect related to Quality Reporting (QR) was treated: Quality framework General characteristics of QR ESS standards ESS Metadata Handler … But the focus was methodological: best practice on how to fill-in each section of ESS standard for quality reports SIMS 2.0.
Participants 18 participants from quality, methodology or coordination units -> they will train their colleagues from production units 9 participants from production units -> in charge of compiling quality reports themselves 3 participants from international organisations or university -> interest in quality reporting issues
Assessment of first edition Results from evaluation questionnaires are still being processed: they will be used to improve next edition of the course The trainers’ evaluation is very good: participants were motivated and there was a good level of interaction during the course efforts should be made in improving the work groups and including better examples in the material.
2017 editions Two editions of the course are planned for 2017 Both will be held in Luxembourg, with the same trainers First: 21-22 March. Deadline for registration 24.01.2017 Second: 15-16 November. Deadline for registration 19.09.2017
