What will the curricular pathway be? What about course offerings? What about electives and AP classes?

You will still be working to complete your a-g requirements in all academies. We are maintaining most of our current elective offerings including music, art, drama, digital art, and JROTC. We are adding Chicano literature and African American literature. We are expanding AP and honors offerings. If your academy does not offer an elective or AP class you want, it will be possible to take that class at another academy.

What athletic programs and afterschool activities will be available?

All of our current athletic programs will continue. Locke High Rollers is coming back. Clubs and activities are being developed and discussed. We will provide an update upon your return in August. Stop and Chat – What clubs and activities do you want to see on campus? (New ones and existing ones)

How will we address safety?

Although some students will have new classmates and teachers, we will still have a small school model with comprehensive supervision and security. We will continue to mediate conflicts to keep the school safe. Each school will have a Dean of Students, Campus Security Officers and a CRST Officer. We will continue to have a Sheriffs Deputy on campus as well. Locke Wellness Center will grow in scope to support emotional safety and provide medical services for free to students.

Will there be an opportunity to interact with other academies?

Yes. After school and athletic programs are open to all academies including 9 th grade students. We are planning a number of One Locke activities. Our first events will be in late May 2013! A campus-wide student leadership/ government body is being designed with input from some of your peers. (ASB) A peer mentor group is being developed to connect upperclassmen to our 9 th Grade Academy students.

Your teacher will now give you a letter detailing your academy assignment. YOUR LETTER IS A!

Do you have additional questions or concerns? With a partner, list your questions or tell us what your concerns are so we can address them. We want you to succeed in your new academy and feel welcomed by your new teachers and peers!
