Frame We will identify the definition of respect and apply its definition to different scenarios. EQ: In what ways is respect connected to identity? I will develop respectful attributes for people base on only their image.

Topic of the Day - Respect Are you respectful? What is respect? Why is respect important? What are some of the ways that people show respect?

Topic of the Day - Respect What are some of the things you’re taught to respect from an early age? What are some of the things you learn to respect as you get older? How do others show you respect now? What are some of the ways you show respect to others?

Definition of “Respect” According to Merriam Webster’s Online Dictionary: An act of giving particular attention A high or special regard Synonyms include: Consideration Esteem Concern

People like to be respected because… Builds up self-esteem Makes them feel they are a part of something Easier to get along with one another Any combination of those mentioned above Any others?

Conclusions Is respect gained or earned? Combination of both Immediate respect for others because they’re PEOPLE, despite differences More respect as there is more interaction

Conclusions Rules and people… Respected over time because they’ve proven to be successful over time and they add to our lives Differences, even if not embraced, should be respected because they are as different in “your place” as you are in “theirs”
