HOMEOSTASIS Negative Feedback Positive Feedback RECEPTOR The body senses an internal change and activates mechanisms that reverse, or negate, that change. Negative Feedback Example: The body adjusts to maintain a constant temperature. The body senses an internal change and activates mechanisms that accelerate or increase that change. Positive Feedback Example: The body of a woman in labor adjusts to prepare for the birth. HOMEOSTASIS RECEPTOR gathers information that something in the environment has changed CONTROL CENTER receives and processes the information then sends commands EFFECTOR Responds to the commands to either oppose or enhance the stimulus
